Plan to attend Family Nature Palooza at picturesque Blue Spruce Park!  This Family Friendly event is FREE and highlights outdoor activities (biking, hiking, fishing, geo-caching, camping, bird-watching,  bug-watching, etc.) that families can do together. 

Providing activities:

  • Indiana County 4-H -  Rocket Launching and more

  • Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts -  Mock Camp site, "Stomp Rocket" activity, School Bus Safety, pine cone craft

  • Evergreen After School Club -  a display of art made from recycled materials from 6 participating school districts in the county focusing on keeping plastics out of water ways titled "Water is for Wildlife" .   Craft activity with recycled  paper and seeds. Promoting pollinator friendly flowers and bee facts.

  • Penn State Master Gardeners - Learn all about the Spotted Lanternfly  threat  and the Blue Spruce garden.

  • MedExpress  - It's all about health, wellness, and an active lifestyle.

  • Community Guidance Center - Info and Corn Hole Game

  • Indiana Free Library -  Go Fly a Kite! Crafts, stories and kite flying . BYOK (Bring Your Own Kite) if you have one.

  • Creekside Volunteer Fire Company will set up their fire fighter activity by the playground

  • Walk Works in Indiana County -  info and Decathlon Wrap-up activity

  • Simple Blessings Farms Therapy Ponies will be on hand being as sweet as usual.

  • Evergreen Conservancy - participate in the Amazing Recycling Race

  • PA Fish and Boat Commission - Casting Call  (learn the proper casting technique)

  • Pearce's Pet Place- meet some very COOL criters!

  •  and many other local agencies will provide activities for the children. 

For 2019 the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s  WoodMobile will be onsite and open for attendees.  The Pennsylvania WoodMobile is a traveling exhibit that provides information on the state’s forest resource and the state’s forest products industry.

JusticeWorks YouthCare will host a fun Obstacle Course Challenge for kids of all ages.


Participate in “Bug Bingo” and  Spot the Spotted Lanternfly  to be eligible to win prizes!

At 11 AM and 1 PM There will be a Mountain Trail Bike Stunt/Safety Show presented by Dialed Action Sports.  The mission of their program is “to inspire students to find an active and healthy passion and use their desire to constantly improve as a means to keep themselves focused, healthy and on a path for success”.

Have a picnic! Food will be available to purchase at a low cost from the 4-H Handy Helpers Grill.

4-H Shawnee Riders will be providing FREE pony rides!

The Home Made Ice Cream Express truck will visit from 11:30 -1:30.

What should I bring to the event?

Sunscreen, insect repellent, sturdy walking shoes, reusable water bottles (multiple water spigots available throughout the park) and a camera (cell phone cameras are good, but there is very limited connectivity at Blue Spruce Park.) If you want to bike, please bring your bikes and helmets (an excellent way to get around to the many activities!) If you want to fish, bring your own gear. If you are new to fishing and don’t have equipment, there will be some poles available to borrow.

Reasons to bring money: Food will be available to purchase from the 4-H Handy Helper Grill. The Homemade Ice Cream Truck will be at Nature Palooza from 11:30 AM – 1:30 PM for the purchase of some cool treats.
